In 1965 the world enjoyed a magical era in design and artistic creativity and Oris joined in the spirit of the times with its first diving watch, featuring an extravagantly designed dial, luminescent numerals and the promise of high levels of performance. Its stainless steel case and bi-directional bezel, ideally suited for this purpose, enveloped a unique dial design, chosen as much for its playfulness as for its clarity and legibility, essential qualities in a watch intended for use underwater. This was a watch for the intrepid and the ambitious.
